Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for praying about the LPDV teacher situation. We are thankful to report that we are again fully staffed, just in time for tomorrow, our first full day of the 2008 school year.
Three English teachers resigned a week ago between the last hour of work on Thursday and the first two hours of Friday. We hired Helen in time for her to go on our staff retreat Monday and Tuesday. A director from a neighboring school generously loaned us a stack of resumes; Sarita was hired in time to meet students on Thursday, the first day of orientation for elementary. She is excited about learning about the Bible as we help her choose verses and stories for her first grade classes.
On Friday afternoon a woman came in to register her two kids, which brings us to nearly 100% of the 340 students needed to meet this year’s budget. Our director recognized the mother as a teacher who’d taught English in the school where she worked 15 years ago. Fabienne called yesterday afternoon with the news that after praying about it, she and her husband agreed that this teaching opportunity is an unexpected blessing for them after many years of her staying at home.
Please join us in thanking the Lord for providing teachers and students for this 2008 school year. Please pray for Helen, Sarita, and Fabienne as they dive into classes without the benefit of our teacher training/planning week. Please pray for Lisa as she provides training and orientation for them and support for the other 6 English and science teachers.
Attached are a few pictures of LPDV students from the orientation half-days we had last Thursday and Friday. Thanks again to all of you who contributed to getting the school ready for this school year. Our facilities look great!
In Christ,
Matt & Lisa Befus
